Greenwood Games is coming and we'd love for your games to be part of it!

This summer I'm organizing Greenwood Games, a community game event along Greenwood Ave on Saturday, July 25 from 1–6PM. It's a free, self-guided community event where participants pick up a playbook and spend the afternoon walking Greenwood Avenue from 65th to 80th, solving puzzles and collecting clues posted in business windows along the way. At select locations along the route, neighbors will be encouraged to stop and discover locally made PNW games (and get a chance to fill in their walk & write grid!)

That's where you come in!

Demoing your game(s)

As a demo table host, you will be set up at a participating business along the avenue and spend the afternoon introducing Greenwood neighbors to your game. Participants who stop by earn a piece for one of the playbook games, giving them a built-in reason to find you and engage. It's a low-pressure, high-fun way to get your game in front of a warm, curious, neighborhood audience.

Who is this for?

This is open to any tabletop game designer or maker based in the PNW. Published or not. Your game doesn't need to be finished. Prototypes and games in development are absolutely welcome. If you have something worth sharing, we want to hear about it.

The community is very family-oriented, so games that tend to be the best fit are:

  • Lightweight and easy to learn, with 15 to 30 minute play time

  • Priced under $30

Family friendly is preferred but not a hard requirement. There are both all-ages and 21+ venues on the map. No video games, app-based games, or games requiring special equipment please.

Finding your perfect venue

Part of the fun is thinking about which location fits your game. There are a mix of businesses along the avenue so there should be something for everyone:

  • Hardware and garden stores: great for games about nature, plants, birds, building, or anything hands-on and tactile

  • All-ages and 21+ pubs and taprooms: perfect for games people can pick up and play at their table over a drink. Quick to learn, easy to put down and come back to

  • Gift shops and boutiques: Charming, visually beautiful games that double as something you'd want to own

  • Ice cream shops and cafes: Family friendly, high foot traffic, great for games that work well with kids and parents together

If your game matches the vibe of a specific kind of shop, let us know. Don't see an obvious fit? Tell us about your game and we'll help figure out the right spot.

The details

  • Cost: We may requestis a small participation fee of $10 to $25 to help offset the cost of printed materials. Final amount TBD based on the number of participants (or sponsorship from a local business)

  • Tables: Some venue locations will have a table available. Others won't. We'll work with every designer to make sure you have what you need, just let us know your situation when you sign up.

  • Time commitment: We ask that demo table hosts are present for the full event window, 1–6PM on Saturday July 25. This gives every participant a chance to find you no matter when they start their route.

  • Spots available: We are aiming to secure approximately 30 demo tables along the corridor. If we have more games than spaces available, we may extend the event up to 87th.

What we provide

  1. A featured spot in the playbook walk & write game, giving participants a direct reason to seek you out

  2. Social media promotion and designer spotlights ahead of the event

  3. Corridination with the venue for your game

  4. A community of neighbors who are already outside, already curious, and already playing

A note from the organizer

If we haven't had the pleasure of meeting already, I'm Becky, a Phinney/Greenwood neighbor and the designer behind Rainbow Rabbits Games and Flock League Games. Greenwood Games is an expanded version of game events I hosted at the Phinney Community center in the early 2020s. I love how vibrant the game design community in Seattle is and I want build something that puts local games in front of local people in the most fun way possible.
