Greenwood Games is coming and we'd love for your business to be part of it!

This summer I'm organizing Greenwood Games, a free, self-guided community event along Greenwood Ave on Saturday, July 25 from 1–6PM. Think of it as Pride Hop, ArtWalk, and the Gumshoe all rolled into one,  except the whole thing is built around games and puzzles.

It's a free, self-guided community event where participants pick up a playbook and spend the afternoon walking Greenwood Avenue from 65th to 80th, solving puzzles and collecting clues posted in business windows along the way.

The event is designed to bring foot traffic to Greenwood Ave businesses, not disrupt them. Every participant has a reason to walk your block. That's the whole point.

What's in it for your business?

  • Your business is featured on the playbook map, which every single participant carries with them all afternoon

  • Your window becomes a piece of community marketing weeks before the event (more on that below)

  • Guaranteed foot traffic from curious, engaged neighbors who are already primed to explore and discover

  • Zero cost to participate. This is a free community event

  • Visibility in all event marketing materials and announcements

How it works

There are two ways to participate:

Window Puzzle Location

The simplest way to be part of Greenwood Games. We provide you with two printed posters: 1) a "Coming Soon" teaser to display in your window 3-4 weeks before the event, and the full clue reveal to swap in on the morning of July 25. Your window becomes part of the puzzle, and every participant has a reason to stop and look. You don't need to change a single thing about how you run your day.

Game Demo Location

If your space has a bit of extra room, indoors or out, you might be a great fit for hosting a tabletop game demo table. Locations along the corridor can host a table featuring a locally made Washington game. Participants who stop to hear about the game earn a piece for one of the playbook games, giving them a genuine reason to linger at your location. It's a fun way to add some extra energy to your space on event day and introduce your customers to something new and local. Think a patio table, a corner of your shop, or a spot out front. Nothing elaborate required. And don't worry, you don't need to demo the games, the game designers will be there to show their games off!

Not sure which fits your space? I have a specific idea in mind for your location so let's talk!

What we ask of you

For Window Puzzle locations:

  • Display the Coming Soon poster in your window starting mid-June

  • Swap in the full clue poster on the morning of July 25

  • Be open during some or all of the event window (1–6PM)

That's it, we handle everything else

For Game Demo Table locations:

  • Display the Coming Soon poster in your window starting mid-June

  • Swap in game promotion poster on the morning of July 25

  • Reserve an existing table OR space for the game on July 25 during the event window

Optional: If you are on Instagram a shout-out that you will be participating in the event would be amazing!

The timeline

We're asking businesses to confirm participation by July 1. That gives us enough time to design the playbook map, print all materials, and get your posters to you well ahead of the event.

FAQs

  1. Do I need to change how I run my business that day? Not at all. The event is entirely self-guided and works around your normal operations. Participants walk by, spot your window poster, note their clue, and move on. No extra staffing required.

  2. What does the poster look like and how big is it? We're still finalizing the design but it will be sized to fit comfortably in a standard window (no bigger than 11x17). We'll share a preview before anything goes to print so you know exactly what you're displaying.

  3. What if I can't be open for the full 1–6PM window? No problem at all, let us know your hours and we'll note them on the map so participants know when to stop by.

  4. Is there a cost to participate? Zero. Free community event, free to participate.

  5. What if I say yes now but something changes closer to the event? Life happens, just let me know as soon as you can and we'll figure it out together.

  6. What kind of games will be demoed? Board and card games created by game designers here in Seattle including Dank & Draft, Rainbow Bop, Triple Scoops, CharCUTtery, Pirate Party and many many more!
